In November 2015, Watters got his own weekly Fox News show called “Watters’ World.” The first episode of the show aired early in 2017, and it is now on every Saturday at 8 PM ET. Later that year, Watters became one of the hosts of the roundtable talk show “The Five.” During the week, the one-hour show features five commentators who talk about current events, pop culture, and other political issues. Career Controversies
Watters has had to deal with harsh criticism throughout his career and has been accused of saying a lot of things that were wrong, hurtful, and bigoted. He said that Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager, John Podesta, gave a hacker his password, which was “password,” in the first few months of 2017. Watters has also claimed that climate change was “not that big of a deal.” He also defended Donald Trump’s border security plan that separated parents and children who entered the country illegally..
Amanda Terkel was on vacation in 2009 when Watters and his cameraman came up to her while he was working on a project for “The O’Reilly Factor.” This is another example of how Watters has stirred the pot.
Seven years later, a Huffington Post reporter named Ryan Grim, who was carrying his phone, asked Watters to say sorry to Terkel. When Watters grabbed Grim’s phone and threw it to the ground, the two guys started pushing each other.
Watters was criticized more in 2016 for a part of his show “Watters’ World” in which he showed racist comments made about Asian Americans. He asked Chinese Americans if they knew about the Japanese martial art of karate, if he should bow before meeting them, and if they were wearing stolen watches while the song “Kung Fu Fighting” played in the background. Bill de Blasio, the mayor of New York City, called Watters’s show “ugly” and “racist.” Other politicians and journalists agreed with him and also criticized Watters.
Watters got more criticism after he praised the right-wing alleged conspiracy group QAnon on his show in the summer of 2020.
